Sadiq becomes first speaker who changed PM speech

Islamabad: In a rear occurrence, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday removed a sentence of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s speech, in which, he asked him to allow speaking those who have pain in their belly.

No other speaker in the Parliament history had done so. The prime minister remarked when the opposition lawmakers were speaking against the former prime minister’s recent interview to a local newspaper reporter. The prime minister said allowed them to speak all those who have pain in their belly and his answer will silent them.

Citing the growing tension at the Parliament session, the speaker Ayaz Sadiq interrupted Abbasi many times but the prime minister ignored the speaker’s suggestions. When the opposition lawmakers protested against the prime minister remarks, the speaker paid excuse that the prime minister said this in the love of his Quaid.

However, the prime minister said he didn’t mention anyone’s name. When the speaker tried to calm down Abbasi, saying the session is to approve budget, but Abbasi said he wanted to speak for Nawaz Sharif.

It was first time in the Parliament history when the NA speaker repeatedly interrupted the House leader to avoid tension at the Parliament floor. When interruption didn’t stop, Ayaz Sadiq himself walked to the prime minister and advised them to stop.

But the opposition parties had walked out until the prime minister kept silence.
