SC orders PBC for taking action against a lawyer for extorting money from kiln owner

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered for initiation of disciplinary action against Muhammad Sohail Zafar Sipra, an advocate for extorting thousands of rupees from owner of a kiln by blackmailing him in the name of forced labour.

The court also dismissed apology tendered by the said advocate and referred his matter to Punjab Bar Council (PBC) for taking disciplinary action.

A 3-member bench of SC led by Justice Nasir ul Mulk took up the case for hearing Monday.

Justice Nasir ul Mulk remarked “ legal practice is highly revered profession. This goes defamed due to people like you, therefore, we can not pardon. Punjab Bar Council will take action against you.

Report was presented on behalf of DPO Gauhar Nafees during the course of hearing that Rasoolan Bibi, petitioner has no connection with family of Muhammad Bhutta etc. The said family is working on kiln on its own choice. Ansar Mehmood has been sent to PIMS for treatment.

Sohail Zafar Sipra advocate presented application tendering apology.

The court ruled the said advocate was not allowed to do legal practice in SC and he received Rs 20000 from kiln owner by posing him to be advocate of SC and demanded the remaining Rs 150000. This advocate has nothing to do with the petitioner nor Rasoolan Bibi has any relevance with the said family. His apology is rejected and Punjab Bar Council is ordered to take action against him.
