Senators protest against price hike of drugs, other issues in upper house

Islamabad: The senators during the session of the upper house of the parliament staged a protest on shortage and price hiking of life saving drugs and increase of air fares by the private airlines amid PIA workers strike.

On Friday’s Senate session, Senator Azam Sawati while talking about the public issues said that multinational pharmaceutical companies have increased the prices of life saving drugs at large extent and created artificial shortage of life saving drugs including cardiology. He demanded to authorities concerned to take immediate notice of the situation.

Senator Kalsoom Perveen said that private airlines while taking benefit of the PIA’s crises had enhanced its air fares manifold which has increased the vows of the masses. She demanded of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take stern notice of the situation to facilitate the masses.

The Chairman Senate directed the Standing Committee for finance to table its report on increase of air fares by private airlines within one week.
