Setting up of Food Forensic, drug testing agency vital for elimination substandard medicines: CM

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that setting up of Punjab Food Forensic and Drug Testing Agency is of vital importance for the elimination of spurious and substandard medicines and draft law for this purpose should be prepared as early as possible.

He was addressing a meeting through video link at Civil Secretariat. Matters regarding establishment of Punjab Food Forensic and Drug Testing Agency were considered in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that just as drug testing laboratory of Lahore has been modernized; similarly labs of Food and Agriculture departments are also to be up-graded on modern lines.

He said that the staff of these modern labs will be sent abroad for training. He said that Punjab Food Forensic and Drug Testing Agency will play a key role in controlling adulterated food.

He said that this agency will play an important role in provision of quality medicines and healthy food to the citizens. Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Advisor on Health Kh.
