LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mian Shehbaz Sharif has decided to appear before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on June 22 in sugar scandal case.

According to private TV sources, Mian Shehbaz Sharif decided to appear before the FIA in consultation with his lawyers. His son Hamza Shahbaz will also appear before the FIA on June 24.

The FIA had directed Shehbaz Sharif to come with the answers to all the questions hinting his arrest if he did not appear.

Earlier Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif, expressing grave concern over the unavailability of coronavirus vaccine in the country, said that the government should not play with the lives of the people, arrangements should be made for immediate supply of vaccine.

The statement issued by Shehbaz Sharif said that planning should be done keeping in view the population of 220 million people, thinking of ordering a few million doses and working with charitable vaccines should be changed, he added.

He said the non-availability of the coronavirus vaccine was another proof of the government s criminal negligence and incompetence. The opposition has repeatedly warned that vaccines should be booked in a timely manner to protect the lives of the people against the deadly virus.

In the case of vaccine supplies, the same thing is happening as in the case of LNG supplies, he said alleging that the stakeholders were busy filling their pockets.

The opposition leader said that it was unfortunate that the government was showing the most serious display of criminal negligence in the matter of people s lives. Serious questions of corruption on the Rs 1, 200 billion Corona relief package have already exacerbated the situation.

He said that theft of public funds is rampant and the provision of services to the public is zero. The people are being punished for government theft, incompetence and mismanagement which is regrettable and reprehensible.
