LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has said that NAB has become a tool for arm twisting and victimization of politicians to change their affiliations with the parties.

Addressing Ittehad-e-Ummat Conference here on Wednesday, he said the anti-corruption watchdog was not answerable to anyone and it was acting as a state within a state.

No one including the apex court was satisfied with the performance of the National Accountability Bureau, he said, adding if the trend continued it would create problems for the country in future. He said the Bureau turned complete blind eye to the corrupt elements sitting in the ranks of the government and the mafia looted the country mercilessly for decades.

The JI chief expressed concern over malicious campaign started by some government institutions including NAB to victimize the journalists. He said the rulers seemed in panic and were using different tactics to silent their opponents and critics.

Senator Siraj said the unity among the ranks of Ummah was need of the hour to counter the conspiracies of the enemies of Islam. He said some anti-Pakistan and anti-Islam lobbies were working to push the country into another wave of sectarian violence but their tactics would not succeed this time.

He said Muslims of Pakistan were united to defend the finality of the prophet-hood and the dignity of the companions of the Holy Prophet (pbuh).

He said people of Pakistan also knew the reality that the PTI and the other major political parties who ruled the country for decades were working at the behest of the western and secular powers. These so-called mainstream parties’ agenda, he said, was to enslave the nation to the west and damage Islamic identity of Pakistan and they had nothing to do with the problems of the people.

The JI chief condemned the acquittal of the Hindu extremists involved in demolition of Babri Masjid, terming it another tragedy for Muslim Ummah.
