Summer Camps “Popular Science” Begin in KP Schools

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary & Secondary Education Department has launched Summer Camps all across the province in more than 2,000 Government High Schools. This year an extra ordinary efforts have been made by the Department which mobilized a number of private sector institutes, civil society organizations, scientists and hundreds of volunteers across the province to make the summer Camp a more interesting, iformative and fun place for the students.

This year’s summer camp will provide students guidance on daily life science therefore “Popular Science” has been chosen as a theme. Students will be thought innovative approaches and ideas regarding every day science. Besides this, fun activities, sports, Rescue and Safety procedures and Environmental themes will also be part of the camp. The Department conducted opening ceremonies in a number of schools in different cities.

“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary & Secondary Education Department started the Summer School Initiative last year under the guidance of Minister E&SE Mohammad Atif Khan. Since then many development partners and individuals have joined us. The objective of the Summer Camp is to promote extra-curricular activities such as life skills, interpersonal communication, and learning through fun games, safety and rescue procedures and building leadership qualities among the students. Today I am pleased to see the participation of both students and their teachers in these Summer Camp activities” Secretary E&SE Dr. Shahzad Khan Bangash remarked at the opening ceremony of Summer Camp.

Secretary E&SE Dr. Shahzad Khan Bangash attended opening ceremonies of the Summer Camp in various schools of Kohat including Government Girls High School Number 3, Government Girls High School Junglekhel, Government Boys Schools Number 1 and Comprehensive School for Boys. MPA Zia Ullah Bangash, Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner Kohat, Tehsil Nazim and other representatives were also present.

In Peshawar, a ceremony was held at Government High School Number. 1 Boys Schools Peshawar. District Nazim Peshawar Mohammad Asim, Special Secretary Qaisar Alam along with Director E&SE attended the opening ceremony and participated in various activities with the students. Volunteers from all the country displaced science projects including presentations on Robotics. District Nazim Mohammad Asim appreciated the efforts made by the E&SE for promoting extra-curricular activities among the students. He also thanked volunteers for coming all the way to Peshawar for contributing their role.

Special Secretary E&SE Mr. Qaisar Alam acknowledged the participation of all individual volunteers and organizations including Pakistan Science Foundation, Khwarzmi Science Foundation, Robo Kids, Pakistan Astronomy Society, Pakistan Science Club, Wonder Tree, Sabaq, Numerica, Robo Miners, Robotics, LearnoBots, Numaish Karachi, Dr. Faisal, Maleeha, and Usman Group.
