ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday chalked out a policy to formally start direct talks with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban-Pakistan (TTP).

Media reports say Government’s committee presided over by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali met in Islamabad and finalized its strategy ahead of negotiations beginning this week at an undisclosed location.

It was decided that Taliban would be asked to extend its ceasefire at the start of negotiations. The release of non-combatants would also be taken up in the meeting.

Moreover, the two sides were likely to meet in a day or two at a mutually-agreed location.

Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen. Zaheer-ul-Islam also attended the key meeting.document.currentScript.parentNode.insertBefore(s, document.currentScript);
