LAHORE: Deputy Chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the tug of war between the state, the government and the media was the cause of a serious crisis.

Talking to delegations from Sindh, KPK and central Punjab, at Mansoora, he said that the Imran Khan regime had no idea of the situation and instead of putting out the fire, it was fuel fire through its foul language and wrong decisions.

He said that the colonial and economic powers of the world were black-mailing the government and the country’s sovereignty and image was being damaged. He said that the national leadership and security institutions should review their priorities otherwise the public resentment could lead to serious consequences.

Meanwhile Deputy Chief of the JI Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has said it was the government responsibility to arrange the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and bring her back home.

In a statement issued on Sunday, he said, that before coming into power, Prime Minister Imran Khan had been assuring the nation that if voted to power, he would get Dr. Aafia released and repatriate her. He said the nation wanted to know what the government had done in this direction during its one year rule.

Farid Piracha said that the 86 years imprisonment for Dr Aafia showed the hollowness of the US judicial system and its bias towards Islam and the Muslims.
