Water and Sanitation company signs agreement

Peshawar: Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan and Norwegian Church Aid signed handing taking agreement of IRRC.

CEO WSSCM Engineer Amir Khan and Shaukat Iqbal, Country Program Manager NCA signed the agreement. Chairperson Akhtar Hameed Khan Memorial Trust Miss Sameera Gul was also present on the occasion.

Under this agreement, the pioneer project of converting organic waste into organic fertilizers (IRRC) handed over to WSSCM.

Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Amir Khan said that IRRC in Mardan has been set up for the purpose that organic waste in Mardan is no longer a problem but it is being converted into organic fertilizer through scientific methods which is also very useful for agricultural crops and environment friendly as well.

He said that the company has devised an integrated strategy and plan to keep the Mardan city clean and tidy. On Daily basis 160 tons of waste is safely disposed, in which five tons of organic waste is converted into organic fertilizer on a daily in IRRC, He added.

He said that Mardan has an agricultural based economy and organic fertilizer is proving to be very useful for further increasing its agricultural production and economy.

The company’s IRRC project has been appreciated all over the country and in a short span of time Representatives from different utilities and departments of other provinces of the country have visited the IRRC.

He said that members of Sindh Assembly, Trainee Assistant Directors of Punjab Local Government Academy, Delegation of Sanghar, Bahria Town Rawalpindi, UET Peshawar, WSSC Swat and Kohat, Delegations from Cecos University visited the Integrated Resource Recovery Center and described it as a role model for others.
