LAHORE: Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Liaqat Baloch while addressing the youth protesting against rice hike, unemployment said that hunger, humiliation, poverty, worries, unemployment, inflation and purchasing power of 220 millions of people are now terrified. The aspirations of 220 million countrymen and 8 million overseas Pakistanis have been ruthlessly buried by the Imran Khan government. The accountability system has become a sham and a joke. The NAB claimed to have recovered Rs 7 billion but the British court imposed a fine of Rs 6.5 billion. This is incompetence and mere jokes with the public.
LIaqat Baloch said that if the Prime Minister does not realize the woes of the people then the so-called Ehsaas Program is an exhibition drama. Gasoline, electricity, gas, flour, pulses, rice, meat, ghee and edible oils are beyond the purchasing power of the poor and middle class. Medicine prices are skyrocketing. On October 31, youth from across the country will hold a historic public march in Islamabad against inflation, unemployment and the status quo. After the dictatorial era of Ayub Khan, once again the lava of inflation, employment is about to erupt.
Liaqat Baloch said in a high level consultative meeting in Mansoora that all the political democratic forces of the country agreed that Imran Khan is a failed, incompetent, careless and insensitive ruler. Removing him from power at this stage would be a great relief for him, so he should not be allowed to become a political martyr. The big lesson for the Establishment in the current situation is to eliminate direct or indirect interference in politics, elections and the parliamentary process, and to focus on national security and the protection of the country’s geographical borders. The ISI is the best organization in the world but naked political interference has caused controversy. Imran Khan’s style of action has made the ISI controversy a laughing stock. The national leadership, democratic forces and all stakeholders must take the path of national consensus on the 2023 elections, an empowered local government system and electoral reforms; otherwise the fragmented division will wreak havoc on the constitution, democracy and the foreign and economic fronts.
Liaqat Baloch said that aspiring for peace, stability, economic prosperity in Afghanistan, first fix the internal situation of Pakistan. Internal weaknesses will cause trouble on every front. Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to play a very responsible, civilized role on every front.
