Combined opposition decides to boycott PNSC in-camera briefing

ISLAMABAD: Combined opposition has decided to boycott in-camera briefing of Parliamentary National Security Committee (PNSC) meeting convened by government.

A joint communiqué issued by combined opposition said the government informed about holding in-camera briefing in the meeting of PNSC on December 6.

It was told that Dr Moeed Yousuf of National Security will give briefing to in-camera session. All the parties included in combined opposition have always demonstrated responsible and serious attitude on constitution, law , national security and public and matters of national interests. That is why opposition parties not only took part in the briefings and the meetings convened on national security and important national issues despite absence and his dissociation with the matters of public and national interests but also the leadership of combined opposition and parliamentary leaders put Forth their proposals.

In the wake of government bid to bulldoze important bills and its persistent fascist attitude on important legal constitutional and security related matters, in camera briefing will be boycotted.

Government is pursuing the attitude of using parliament as rubber stamp.

The joint communiqué further said vital internal and external, national and pubic issues are not being tabled in the parliament. They are not put to debate in the parliament. The matters are being run through in-cameral briefing. Government has in fact boycotted the parliament. Parliament is legal, constitutional and public forum in democracy.

The combined opposition deplored that the Prime Minister (PM) did not attend the important meetings held on crucial public and national issues including Kashmir issue.

In this perspective combined opposition has decided to boycott briefing.
