‘Country seeing highest inflation’ admits state minister

Islamabad: In response to a question from Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Senator MuhammadMushtaq regarding the stability of rupee against dollar during Question Hour in Friday’s Senate session, Ali Muhammad Khan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs said that the value of dollar was rising, and the country was seeing worst inflation.

Answering the question, the state minister lashed out at former PPP and PML-N governments. “Hats-off to PPP and PML-N governments, who did miracles for our economy” Ali Muhammad Khan jeered at both the current opposition parties.

“In [former Prime Minister] Benazir Bhutto’s era, the rupee depreciated by 100 percent. In our era, it has decreased to 45 percent” he made a comparison.

Ali Muhammad Khan said thatdollar’s price could only be reduced by increasing foreign exchange reserves. “During PML-N era, foreign exchange reserves were 9 billion dollars, but currently, foreign exchange reserves stand at 20 billion dollars” Ali told the upper house of parliament.
