IHC rejects bail before arrest plea of Asif Zardari due to his absence from court

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected bail before arrest plea of former president Asif Ali Zardari due to his absence.

A division bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah and Justice Amir Farooq took up for hearing bail before arrest plea of Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday.

Farooq H Naik counsel for Asif Ali Zardari filed application seeking exemption from attendance for his client.

The court inquired during hearing of the case “ are you seeking bail before arrest. We will not set such precedent of bail before arrest in the absence of the accused.

Farooq H Naik told the court case laws are there regarding bail in the absence of the accused.

Farooq H Naik requested the court to give time for two days. Asif Zardari will appear. Protective bail be granted for two days and he will himself appear today.

The court remarked Asif Zardari should appear in person and then bail plea will be heard.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till today.
