Peshawar: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Kazim Niaz has said that eradication of polio virus from the province was government’s top priority.

Province’s top bureaucrat was presiding a meeting of officials Friday to review anti-polio drive.

He directed district administration that any sort of negligence would not be tolerated against the targets of Polio eradication Programme.

Dr. Kazim Niaz appreciated the Programme team, polio workers, police and district administrations for their efforts in the previous year regarding the eradication of polio virus, stating that no case was reported the entire year because of the effective polio eradication campaigns throughout the province.

Chief Secretary stressed the role of the media, elected representatives and religious scholars in addressing the refusals to polio vaccination, saying the government was making every effort to eliminate the virus for the last endemic region.

He further said that the polio workers must be provided fool proof security so that the targets of polio eradication must be achieved so that Pakistan can achieve the status of a polio free country.
