PM appoints Nilofar Bakhtiar as Chairperson of National Commission for women

Islamabad: Despite Opposition objections, PM Imran Khan has appointed Nilofar Bakhtiar as Chairperson of the National Commission for Women.

The government and the opposition have come face to face over the appointment of Nilofar Bakhtiar. The opposition has decided to go to court by rejecting his appointment.

Opposition leader Shahida Akhtar Ali had objected to the appointment of Nilofar Bakhtiar as chairperson, saying that Fozia Waqar got 6 votes while Nilofar Bakhtiar got 5 votes.

After the toss, the chairperson was to be elected. After the voting process, the members of the government left without listening.

Dr Ayesha Ghous said that after the voting process, the opposition had written a letter to the Speaker informing him that the minutes of the election meeting had not been provided to the opposition yet. PPP leader Nafisa Shah objected Appointment against parliamentary tradition is an insult to Pakistan women.

The government should immediately withdraw the notification regarding the appointment of Nilofar Bakhtiar.

Senator Nuzhat Sadiq said that the National Assembly Secretary Treat is also supporting the illegal appointment of a member of the government.

On behalf of PML-N, Tahira Aurangzeb and Senator Abida Azeem objected that this attitude of the government is not acceptable in any case.

If it continues like this, the atmosphere of Parliament will deteriorate. The selected government is making an important commission on women controversial.
