Resolution of problems lies in holding free, fair & transparent elections: Sirajul Haq

QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said that the masses should have to stand up for their rights, adding that the resolution of the problems lies in holding free, fair and transparent elections. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government like the previous regimes has done nothing to address the issues of poverty, unemployment, missing persons and law and order in Balochistan despite completing three years in power.

“There is no end to the grievances of the people of Balochistan as even the facility of clean drinking water is unavailable to 70 percent residents of Quetta,” Sirajul Haq said while addressing journalists at Quetta Press Club on Thursday.

Sirajul Haq said the different governments made announcements to spend hundreds of billions rupees under different packages for the development of the area but they remained limited to the papers and slogans. He said over 66 percent children in Balochistan did not go to schools and the province was the most poorest despite being richest in terms of natural resources from all other provinces of Pakistan. He said the prime minister made tall claims to resolve the missing persons issue but the problems was still there. He said there was no improvement in law and order situation in the province.

“The fact is that two percent ruling elite have full control on resources of the country and they are least interested in bringing some improvement to the life of a common man no matter where he resides.

“Transparent and free elections under the principle of proportional representation are needed to put the country on track,” Sirajul Haq said.

The JI chief said the defeat of the US forces in Afghanistan was the victory of Afghan people and in fact it provided a ray of new hope to the nations forced to live under tyrant regimes. He said the people of Afghanistan now must start dialogue to establish a true people representative government in the country and to establish peace and bring prosperity in the war torn country. He said they were the people of Afghanistan who had to decide about the future of their country. He said any other country should avoid making interference in the matter of Afghanistan. He prayed May the peace and prosperity return to Pakistan and Afghanistan and Muslim Ummah get their glorious past back.
