Suo moto notice on use of insulting language by PPP leader: SC issues notice to PPP leader, attorney general, FIA

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has issued notices to Masood ur Rehman Abbasi, PPP local leader attorney general and FIA in suo motto notice on using insulting language by PPP leader Masood ur Rehman Abbasi against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).

A 4-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up suo moto notice for hearing Tuesday. The suo moto notice was taken by the CJP on use of insulting language by PPP local leader against him.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial inquired from deputy attorney general Sohail Mehmood if he heard Masood ur Rehman Abbasi speech.

Deputy Attorney General replied he had heard about speech but he had not watched the video.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked the said speech is circulating on social media. Masood ur Rehman Abbasi has used extremely insulting language against the CJP.

The court issued notices to Masood ur Rehman Abbasi, attorney general and FIA.

The court while directing IG Sindh to ensure serving of notice to Masood ur Rehman Abbasi adjourned the hearing of the case till June 28.
