170 literacy centers set up to impart education to poor children, eunuchs

RAWALPINDI: As many as 170 literacy centers have been set up in Rawalpindi district to ensure 100 percent literacy percentage among children.

These centers have been established under Non Formal Primary Education Project. Education facility will be provided to 30 to 45 children in every center.

Children who are working in hotels, workshops, shops, homes, small factories, plazas, baggers and rag pickers will be given admission in these centers. No fee will be charged to the children and books will also be provided free of cost to them.

Training process of 170 lady teachers who will conduct classes in these centers has been completed. About 6800 children will be given admission into these centers.

Second phase for imparting technical education to the eunuchs and children who are found begging in streets is also being launched at Vocational Training Institute Rawalpindi.
