22 killed, 25 injured in blast near pilgrims bus in Mastung

MASTUNG: At least 22 people were killed and over 25 injured in an explosion near a bus carrying pilgrims from Iran to Quetta in Dareen Garh area of Mastung on Tuesday evening.

According to Levies‚ pilgrims’ bus caught fire after a powerful blast in Dareen Garh area of Mastung.

The security forces and rescue teams rushed to the blast side and shifted the injured and bodies to hospital in Quetta after cordoning off the area.

It is feared that the death toll and actual figure of the injured could mount further as many injured are in very serious condition, said media reports.

The pilgrims’ bus was heading towards Quetta from Taftan area when the power explosion occurred in Dareen Garh area of Mastung at about 6.15pm, told the levies sources.

The DC of Mastung expressed fear that the death toll could mount further as the rescue efforts are still underway on the blast side, media reported.

Three pilgrims’ buses in protection of Levies security vehicles were coming from Taftan but when first bus crossed the blast spot in Dareen Garh area of Mastung, a powerful blast occurred and one bus caught fire, told sources.

Many Levies’ security men have also sustained injuries in the blast, added the Levies sources.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the incident.

They expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
