MIRANSHAH: At least 24 people were killed and several others wounded in bombardment by jet aircrafts in different areas of North Waziristan Agency on Tuesday.

Gunship helicopters and fighter jets pounded tribal areas near the Afghan border in an operation against Taliban militants on Tuesday, flattening several houses and sending villagers fleeing from their homes, military sources and local residents said.

According to local sources, shells were fired in Esori area of Mir Ali in North Waziristan where 16 people were killed.

The shelling in different areas of Miranshah left at least eight people dead.
