ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s foreign ministry was cut off from the entire world as darkness engulfed the prestigious ministry during the first ever 6-hour blackout; while IESCO failed to diagnose the reason.

The dark spell engulfed the foreign ministry on Thursday morning, while IESCO engineers summoned in haste failed to locate the problem facing the VIP electricity link.

The blackout totally terminated Foreign Office’s cyber links with the outer world, which was linked with alternate sources through a make-shift line.

The horrid state of affairs forced Foreign office to decide for a back-up generator to deal with any emergency situation(s), for which a tender would sooner be advertised.

During the blackout, the scheduled foreign office briefing was also cancelled, and would be held today Friday, instead.
