How much it is inhuman, tragic and extreme terrorism  that as many as 14 persons including Pakistan Navy personnel were martyred after being offloaded from buses on Makran Coastal Highway in Gwadar. Fourteen passengers on board in the buses  were forced to offload on Makran Coastal Highway in Ormara area of Gawadar district in Balochistan and were shot dead by unidentified gunmen early on Thursday. The incident occurred in Buzi Top area of Ormara on Makran Coastal Highway. Five to six buses were stopped by the armed persons. The number of attackers was between15 to 20. More tragic and barbaric was that armed gunmen handcuffed their hands and feet and killed the passangers. The incident occurred at 2:00 AM. The attackers, who numbered around two dozen, were wearing camouflage uniforms, Provincial Home Secretary Haider Ali told a foreign news agency. They “stopped buses on the Makran Coastal Highway and gunned down 14 people”, he said, adding that the four vehicles were traveling to Karachi from the coastal town of Ormara.

Provincial Home Minister Mir Zia Langov said a full-scale investigation had been launched into the attack and to track down the gunmen, who he said had fled the scene. “Such incidents are intolerable and we will not spare the terrorists who carried out this dastardly attack,” he said. The bodies were shifted to a nearby health facility in Ormara. The passengers were picked out with the help of their National Identity Cards (NICs). The bodies of the victims were recovered from Noor Baksh Hotel. The motive behind the killings and the identity of the victims are yet to be disclosed. No one has claimed responsibility for the killings. According to spokesman for Pakistan Navy, the martyrs also included personnel of Pakistan Navy.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr. Arif Alvi have strongly condemned the dastardly act of terrorism. The Prime Minister has sought report from the administration and police and directed the authorities to make every possible effort to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The Prime Minister also expressed sympathies with families of the victims. In a statement, the President Dr. Arif Alvi also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He said such attempts to spread mischief in the country cannot succeed. The President said the nation is united as well as committed against terrorism. Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal also strongly condemned the attack on passenger buses in Balochistan. She said any terrorist act to disturb the peace and progress of Balochistan will not be tolerated and such activities cannot hinder the progress of ongoing development projects in the province.

Timing of the recent terror attacks implies that the enemy wants to harm Pakistan at the Financial Faction Task Force and other international forums. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan condemned the incident and offered his condolences to the victims’ families. These cowardly terrorists showed the extent of their barbarism by murdering innocent passengers.  The attack is a conspiracy to halt progress in Balochistan and tarnish the country’s image. The people of Balochistan look upon terrorists who follow the agenda of foreign elements with hate. Pakistan has rendered immense sacrifices and registered major successes in the war on terror.

Both the ruling and opposition leaders strongly condemned the barbarism  of terrorists  and pledged to bring them to justice.
