AIOU sets 30 Tele-information centers to facilitate students

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has inaugurated ‘Tele-Information centers’ to facilitate students for providing information relating to admissions and results.

As per issued press statement the ‘Tele-Information centers’ have been established at thirty different places around the country on immediate basis which will also provide information regarding workshops, assignments and exams.

Vice-Chancellor (AIOU), Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi has said that around 300 such centers will be established by the end of this year to ensure availability of academic facilities for their students at their nearest places.

He said necessary process to the effect has already been started, while these centers are being equipped with computers, Tele-printers and scanners so that students could use them for doing their academic work.

VC more said, Tele Information centers will be electronically linked with the University’s main campuses to help the students to acquire relevant knowledge/information through video-conferencing and e-learning system.

“Work on induction of new technology in the University’s educational system has also been done rapidly, while necessary budgetary allocation for this purpose has been made,” he added.

The places where the Tele-information centers has been setup include, Hangu, Kohat, Bannu, Haripur,Dassu, Skardu, khuzdar, Uthal, Bagh (AK), Shikarpur, Moro, Kot Addu, Bhakkar, Sibi, Kohlu, Rawalakot,Nawabshah, Mandi Bahauddin, Ahmad Pur Sial, and Kallar Kahar. Part-time Regional Coordinators have been appointed to supervise these centers.
