ISLAMABAD: The allied government has started consultation on dissolution of National Assembly (NA) before completion of its tenure in connection with holding general election.
The coalition partners will meet after Eid ul Azha for final decision.
According to government sources federal government has started deliberating over dissolution of NA before completion of its tenure. NA constitutional term will complete on August 13, 2023. Government is making consultation on dissolution of NA on August 9 or 10 to hold general election in first week of November. The election will have to be got held within 60 days in the event of completion of tenure of NA on August 13.
As per sources that during the meeting between Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP delegation the matters of general election and dissolution of NA before completion of its tenure came under discussion.
The sources told that in the event of dissolution of assembly before completion of its term, the election will have to be got held within 90 days.
The election will take place in November in case of the option of 90 days.
Government is considering the option of November to gain maximum time for election campaign.
The sources disclosed heads of allied parties will meet after Eid in connection with final decision.
The Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will make a brief stay in London on his way to Paris for attending international conference and he will make consultation with PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on this matter.
As per sources the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif is likely to take place on June 22.
