Amendments in Law and Justice Commission Bill 2013 approved

ISLAMABAD: Standing committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights held its meeting, convened by Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir to review Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill 2013.

Amendments were proposed in section 3 and 6 regarding qualification for appointment of a member of the commission, and allocation of funds for federal and provincial judicial academies.

The Amendment in section 3, calls for four members, one from each province, appointed by federal government on the recommendation of chairman. These four members should be holders of judicial, administrative offices, eminent lawyers or jurists, members of CII (Council of Islamic Ideology), and teachers of law in a university or a collage.

Amendment in section 6, relates to empowering the commission to sign MoUs with the law commissions of foreign countries, and allocation of funds which could be utilized on the activities of judicial academies and trainings of judicial officers.
