Another application files to stop proceedings against Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Another application has been filed in order to stop proceedings of special court under Article 6 of the constitution against former President Pervez Musharraf.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) would start hearings of this application here today (Tuesday).

The application was filed by Shah Jehan Khan Advocate under article 199 of the constitution on behalf of Brigadier (Retd) Akhtar Shah on Monday.

It has been stated in application that Musharraf had imposed emergency on November 3, 2013 as President of Pakistan not as army chief and steps taken by him being a president cannot be challenged in any court so special court should be stopped from proceedings.

President enjoys immunity according to constitution, applicant stated in application.

IHC has decided to resume hearings of this application urgently and one-member bench of IHC comprised of Justice Shaukat Siddiqui will start hearing today (Tuesday).
