ATC approves bail of Sheikh Rasheed in the case of attack on office of sensitive institution

RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has approved bail of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed in the case of attack on office of sensitive institution. The bail plea of Sheikh Rashid came up for hearing before judge Malik Ijaz Asif of ATC Saturday. The court approved bail of Sheikh Rashid against the surety bonds in the sum of Rs 2 lac. The court ordered to release him from Adiala jail. Earlier the bail pleas of Sheikh Rasheed, his nephew Sheikh Rashid and others were accepted in GHQ attack case on January 16. However bail plea of Sheikh Rasheed was rejected after some time in May 9 attack case. He was arrested from the court premises. It is pertinent to mention here PTI had held country wide protest following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan in Al-Qadir trust case on May 9 from Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises. The civil, military and private installations were torched in the protest. Damage was caused to private and public properties. At least 8 people were killed and 290 were injured in the protest demonstrations. The demonstrators had attacked residence of corps commander in Lahore which is called Jinnah House. The protesters had broken one gate of GHQ. Later the law enforcement agencies arrested 1900 persons involved in clash with institutions, siege and arson incidents. Several cases were registered against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders and workers.
