Islamabad:  The body of a Pakistan national, who was killed by fellow prisoners in a jail in India after the Pulwama attacked, was handed over to the Pakistani authorities on Saturday.

The victim Shakirullah was stoned to death in Jaipur jail following the rise of anti-Pakistan sentiment in India in the awake of the suicide attack in occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Shakirullah hailed from Sialkot.

The Indian authorities have kept the body of Shakirullah in a morgue of a hospital in Rajasthan after completing medico-legal formalities. Instead of ambulance, Shakirullah body was brought in a truck at Wagha Border along with goods.

It is an international norm that body is usually brought in a ambulance but Indian authorities didn’t pay respect to moral values.

According to details, Shakirullah was in Rajasthan’s Central Jail for the past eight years. He was serving life sentence. He had crossed the border by default. Shakirullah was mentally challenged and the Indian forces took him into custody for crossing border.

Shakir’s brother, Gulfam said that he has spent sleepless nights after receiving the news of his brother’s murder. He said they came to know after 16 years that Shakir is in Indian jail and he had been killed by a mob of Indian prisoners.

His body will be sent to his native town for burial.

Pakistan, meanwhile, reiterated its demand that the culprits behind Shakir’s death must be taken to task. In a statement, the Foreign Office said finding of the inquiry and post mortem report be shared urgently and ensure safety of ball Pakistanis in India.
