ISLAMABAD: Bushra Bibi wife of PTI founder has filed petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking suspension of her sentence in Nikah during iddat case.

The petition has been filed through barrister Suleman Safdar.

The petition said the conviction be suspended and Bushra Bibi released on bail.

The court has been prayed to suspend the February 3 decision of conviction and issue orders for releasing Bushra Bibi on bail. The prosecution presented weak evidence full of contradictions. The punishment cannot be awarded on the basis of these evidence. The punishment awarded by trial court cannot stay.

It was further said in the petition Bushra Bibi has been kept in jail in worst environment for the sake of political victimization.

In order to meet the norms of justice it is essential that the petition seeking suspension of conviction be disposed of soon.

The court should hear the petition regarding the suspension of conviction which is already pending hearing in sessions court. The petition seeking suspensi
on of conviction be heard and decision in regard to this plea be given soon.

It is pertinent to mention here that civil court had awarded punishment of 7 years in jail to Bushra Bibi on February 03.
