CIA Islamabad arrest recorded 579 criminals in 2013

ISLAMABAD: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police emerged successfully against those involved in crimes cases of various nature and arrested a total of 579 criminals this year.

Moreover, it recovered looted items worth Rs 22.7 millions, huge cache of contraband and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

According to details, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan directed SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas to accelerate efforts against anti-social elements and ensure their arrest. Special teams of CIA worked hard to investigate the cases referred to them and special efforts were also made to arrest culprits involved in crime cases of heinous nature.

CIA police teams arrested 18 persons involved in murder and attempt to murder cases, 325 persons for their alleged involvement in dacoity incidents and attempts, 84 burglars and thieves, 34 car and motorbike thieves. A total of 11 cars, 34 motorbikes and valuables worth Rs. 22.7 million were also recovered from them.

Likewise, 188 persons were apprehended for possessing illegal weapons and narcotics. Total recovery made from these criminals was 119 pistols/revolvers, 10 rifles, 6 SMG guns, six daggers, 507 rounds, 4022 wine bottles, 15 kilogram hashish and 1.183 kilogram heroin.

CIA police teams busted 32 gangs and arrested 132 gangsters during 2013 and also arrested 42 proclaimed offenders in special crackdown against criminals. During this period, 18 gamblers were also arrested and electronic equipment and stake money worth Rs179,000 were also recovered from them.

CIA police also completed investigation on 351 cases and their challans were submitted in relevant courts.

IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat has said that providing relief to citizens is the responsibility of police and every possible effort should be made to provide protection to the lives and property of citizens as well as resolving their complaints on immediate basis.

He stressed for effective steps to curb crime and activities of anti-social elements. He urged to adopt decent attitude for success in policing affairs and said complainants should be behaved in polite manner because this gesture can address their grievances to a maximum level.

The IGP said that Islamabad police force is committed to provide protection and fool proof security. This responsibility would be professionally accomplished in future with same zeal and zest.

He exhorted to use available resources with Islamabad police force honestly for the better output and also for decent attitude with officers and subordinates.

Sikandar Hayat said Islamabad police force is cognizant of challenges and every possible effort would be made to provide relief to citizens.
