CM Punjab for bolstering Pak-Korea trade volume

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has stressed for strong friendly relations between Pakistan and Korea, prompting need to promote trade, economic ties between the two countries.

Talking to Korean Ambassador in Pakistan, Song Jong-Hwan who called on him here today, he said that the volume of trade between Korea and Pakistan should increase while exchange of trade delegations between the two countries can play an important role in this regard.

Matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed on the occasion and it was agreed that economic and trade relations between

Korea and Pakistan should be strengthened.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Korea has made rapid progress in a very short period of time and Pakistan wants to benefit from Korean expertise and experience.

Shahbaz lauded remarkable progress Korea had achieved by emulating the development programme of Pakistan, while Korean trade with other countries has exceeded beyond one trillion dollars.

He said that the speedy progress made by Korea was a role model for the world, expressing that Pakistan wanted to establish strong economic and trade relations with

Korea and would welcome its cooperation for the development of energy, infrastructure and other sectors.

He said that Korean companies should make investment in energy, infrastructure and other sectors, assuring all out incentives and facilities in this regard, while also informing his honoured guest that Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park was being established over a large area in district Bahawalpur of southern Punjab while a plan has also been evolved to set up Apparel Park near motorway in Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive strategy has been adopted under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for strengthening the economy of the country and economic reforms have been introduced which are yielding positive results.

Speaking on the occasion, the Korean Ambassador Song Jong-Hwan expressed the desire to promote economic and trade relations with Pakistan and said that the volume of trade between the two countries should be further increased.

He said that Korean companies wanted to invest in Pakistan, especially Punjab, while also expressing that Punjab province was making rapid progress and development under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who was taking effective measures for the welfare of the masses.

He also commended the efforts of the Chief Minister for the speedy and transparent completion of development projects.

Provincial Minister for Industry Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Industry and Vice Chairman Punjab Investment Board were also present on the occasion.
