ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) while disposing of case with reference to illegal appointments in Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has directed the competent authority to take legal review of these appointments and issue proper order within four weeks.

A 3-member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took up for hearing the case filed by Abdul Jabbar Memon against appointments made by former minister for ports and shipping Babar Ghauri in PQA Thursday.

Counsel for PQA NA Rehman told the court that rules and regulations have been violated in the recruitments made by previous government which are being reviewed.

The court inquired from the petitioner during the course of hearing the federal government has taken a clear stance in this case and if he was agreed with it.

He told that federation had said that 891 recruitments were made illegal while “ I have produced record of 1091 recruitments”. The court remarked “it is issuing orders about all the recruitments made during that period”. The court directed counsel for PQA that the competent authority should review the legal position of these appointments and promotions and issue orders within 4 weeks. Even then if the petitioner has any reservations then he can resort to court. The court ordered that any one should not come to the court again in this matter.
