Courts are facing problems in the decision of cases due to poor police investigation: SC

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has maintained during the hearing of the case against transfers of police officers on political basis that the courts have to face problems in the decision of the cases due to substandard investigation of police.

The court ordered to appoint experienced and expert officers in the investigation into criminal cases.

The court also ordered police of all provinces and Islamabad police to ensure implementation of police order-2002.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial took up the case for hearing Wednesday.

The governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KP filed the report about transfers of police in the court. Islamabad police could not file details about posting and transfer.

CJP remarked the problem of non provision of funds was mentioned in all the reports filed by police. Even the vehicles are not made available to police for investigation. The court be informed about the funds released to police.

Justice Athar Minallah inquired when the last meeting of National Police Board was held. The problems are being faced in police investigation in the provinces due to non holding of national police board meetings.

The court while calling details of transfers from Islamabad police adjourned the hearing of the case for one month.
