Delegation of film exhibitors, producers meets CM Punjab

LAHORE: A representative delegation of Pakistan Exhibitors and Film Producers Association met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Sunday.

The delegation comprised Chief Executive Officer Cinepax Pir Saad Ahsan ud Din, President Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association Zoraiz Lashari, Salman S Lalani, Usman Pirzada, Ramzan Sheikh and other office-bearers.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that film is an effective medium of communication. He said that new generation can be informed about cultural, national and historic traditions through films which can also play an important role in identifying social issues.

Setting up a committee for the solution of the problems of film industry and cinema houses, the Chief Minister directed the committee to submit practicable proposals in this regard.

He said that in addition to giving a final shape to rules and regulations of Punjab Censor Board, a strategy should also be devised for resolving the problems of film industry under one-window. The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for taking steps for solving problems of the film industry.

Problems of the film industry were discussed in the meeting. Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Minister for Education and Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Secretary Information, Vice Chairman Punjab Investment Board and other concerned officials were also present.
