ECP to set up over 4000 polling stations in Karachi for Jan 18 LB polls

KARACHI: Election commission to established 4000 polling stations for local bodies polls in six districts of Karachi, the largest metropolis.

Amid preparations were underway across Sindh province, opposition parties like MQM, PML-N and Functional league protesting against amendment in local bodies ordinance.

ECP said that 4,207 polling stations were being set up in all six districts of Karachi where six million and 951,632 registered voters would use their right of vote.

Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the schedule of local bodies elections in Sindh accordance to which polling would be held on January 18.

As per the schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the nomination papers of the candidates would be received from December 26 to December 29.

The verification of nomination papers would be conducted from January 1 to January 5.
Appeals against the nomination would be filed on 6th and 7th January while decisions on the appeals would be announced from January 8 to 11.

The final list of the candidates would be issued on January 13 and polling would be held on January 18.
