Enforced disappearance of any one is blatant violation of HR: Justice Saqib

ISLAMABAD: Justice Saqib Nisar has remarked “enforced disappearance of any one is gross violation of human rights.

He further remarked “human life is the most precious of all the things. We want resolution of missing persons cases in consonance with the law. Law and order can be maintained by upholding law.

He gave these remarks during course of hearing of Balochistan violence case by a 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) led by Justice Nasir ul Mulk here Wednesday.

Shahid Hamid counsel for Balochistan government requested the court to shift cases of 23 missing persons in Balochistan High Court (BHC). FC is facing charges allegedly in 19 cases and charges are being allegedly levied against Military Intelligence (MI) in 8 missing persons cases. Original record is not available in 23 cases. He presented this report before 3-member bench of SC. The court remarked it was necessary to ascertain petitioner opinion on this count.

The court was further told that government had taken security measures as per proposals of Doctors organization in order to provide security to the doctors. Certain matters have yet to be settled. Doctors have not only been allowed to engage private security but also arms licenses will be issued to the doctors.

The court was told joint meetings of law enforcement agencies had taken place to extend security to the doctors. Government functionaries including chief minister Balochistan had been participating in these meetings. Representatives of doctors organizations had been playing their role in this respect.

The court was told that DIG CID, IG FC and provincial governments had filed their respective reports. Several vital decisions have been taken to put in place effective security arrangements.

The court remarked “ we want that opinion of the petitioners including Hadi Shakil and Nasrullah Baloch be sought first and then any decision be taken. Therefore, these persons should appear in the court on next hearing and give their written opinion in this respect.

The court while seeking written opinion from Hadi Shakil, president Balochistan High Court Bar and Nasrullah Baloch, president Doctors organization on the reports of government and other institutions in Balochistan violence case adjourned the hearing till January, 30.
