LAHORE: Entire politics of the Jamaat-e-Islami revolves around the objective of transforming Pakistan into a real Islamic welfare state, sates its Emir Senator Sirajul Haq.

Addressing a press conference on occasion of joining the JI by a Sialkot based politician Hafiz Khawar Mirza along with his supporters here at Mansoora on Friday, Senator Sirajul Haq said the JI had already announced a campaign to achieve the objective and get rid of the forces of status quo who had ruined the country during last 70 years.

He said although the PML-N, the PPP and the military rulers left no stone unturned to damage the institutions, the PTI broke all the previous records of bad governance. Therefore, he added, the JI believed there was no difference among the main parties of opposition alliance and those who were in power. The people, he said, had fully recognized the agent of status quo and were no more ready to give them any other chance.

“The JI is set to launch a full-fledged campaign against inflation and interest based economy. A committee has already formed to chalk out plans for public rallies and organize the masses to bring real change in the country” Senator Sirajul Haq said.

“We want electoral reforms, free media, independent courts and across the boards accountability drive,” he said while elaborating the objectives of the proposed movement. The JI chief, however, ruled out possibility to join hands with opposition alliance, saying the people already tested the parties and have no trust on them. He said the so-called mainstream political parties supported the every move of the government in past two years and this time too they did not pose any threat to the rulers.

The Senator lamented that Imran Khan’s government deceived the masses badly and made their life miserable due to its bad economic policies devised at the behest of international financial institutions. He said feudal lords and mafias sitting in the ranks of the PTI have no interest in public welfare program. He said lawlessness, inflation and unemployment were the trademarks of the ruling party, which failed to introduce a single initiative for the welfare of the masses in past two years. A tainted accountability campaign was on the run and PTI did its best to create controversies around the institutions, he added.

Senator Sirajul Haq welcomed Hafiz Khawar and other political workers from Sialkot in the ranks the JI, asking them to work hard side by side with other leaders and workers of the Jamaat-e-Islami to transform Pakistan into a welfare Islamic state.
