EOBI should give top priority to elderly pensioners

Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashidi presided over a meeting of senior officers of EOBI at Camp office Karachi to review performance of the Institution and implementation of the decisions in the last meeting presided by the Federal Minister on 02-09-2013.

Chairman EOBI Mr. Muhammad Ayub Shaikh briefed the Minister on the progress and achievements made by EOBI in areas of e- governance, streamlining the pension payment, recovery of contribution and other relevant issues.

The Chairman informed the Federal Minister that recovery position has been increased by 26.8% as an amount of Rs.4,585 billion has been recovered during 1st July 2013 to 30th November 2013 as compared to 3,615 billion from 1st July 2012 to 3oth November 2012.

Chairman EOBI further stated that Institution is heading towards e-governance and by first quarter of 2014 all its business process will be automated on new I.T solutions so that pensioners get their pension with ease and dignity.

Novel and technology based solution of pension disbursement are being worked upon, tender process has already been initiated and within four month’s EOBI will introduce Pension through authorized Bank/Branchless bank accounts with pension e-cards.

The minister directed that all initiatives being taken for pensioners’ facilities may be given priority. He also decided to hold quarterly meeting at camp office Karachi to review progress for implementation of the decisions being taken in the meetings.
