Ex-PM Khan legal team fails to submit protective bail plea amid fears of arrest

LAHORE: Staffers at the Chief Justice House and the Lahore High Court refused to receive an application from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s legal team on Sunday despite their efforts to secure protective bail for the former prime minister amid fears of arrest.

Staff members deployed at the Lahore Chief Justice House told the PTI legal team that this was not the appropriate venue to submit the application, asking them to approach the high court.

Subsequently, members of PTI legal team including Fawad Chaudhry, senior advocate Azhar Siddique, and others approached the Lahore High Court where police officials denied their request to submit the bail plea, maintaining that they were not authorized to receive the petition.

After realizing that the gates of the LHC were not going to be opened despite their insistence, the legal team left the bail application on a little window by the main gate near GPO Chowk.
