Five explosive packets recovered near Musharraf residence

Islamabad: Police on Monday discovered five packets containing approximately five kilograms of explosive materials, weapons and ammunition close to farm house of former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf at Chak Shahzad, suburb area of capital Islamabad.

Police recovered five kilograms of explosive material in a five plastic bags, one was connected to detonator near the farmhouse of the former military strongman.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was called in who arrived at the scene and examined the explosives.

A police official told local media that four explosive packets were without detonators and were not been assembled into a bomb while one bag connected with a detonator.

Security of Musharraf residence was tightened stricter after Monday development while mobile jammers were installed to suspend cellular signals near farmhouse to avoid any mishap.

Musharraf was not appeared before special court hearing treason trail against him on December 24 as a bomb was recovered close to his route near farm house.

Court had ordered Musharraf to appear before the special bench and asked authorities to provide fool-proof security to former president.

Earlier this year in April, 45 kilograms of explosives were discovered in a car abandoned near Musharraf’s farmhouse when he was being taken back there after his appearance in an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.
