France to support 200 Varsity students with HEC help

ISLAMABAD: The Government of France has announced 200 scholarships for Pakistani university students at graduate and under-graduate level here on Friday. Ambassador of France to Pakistan Philippe Thiébaud and the Acting Chairperson, Higher Education Commission, Engr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani signed the document of agreement at French Embassy Islamabad in this connection.

The programme will be executed in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.

The scholarship is the second phase of the programme that has already been financed in 2012 by the French government. The scholarships are meant for the meritorious but unprivileged students of 10 Pakistani universities. The programme will enable those students who find it difficult to continue their studies because of financial limitations.

The scholarship will cover tuition fee as other expenditures of the selected students. It will be offered in the fields of Social and Basic Sciences, Architecture, Information Technology, Telecommunication and Business Administration.

The participating universities include Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, COMSATS Institute of Technology Islamabad, Lahore College for Women University Lahore, Forman Christian College Lahore, Institute of Business Administration Karachi, University of Peshawar-Peshawar, Institute of Business and Management-Karachi, University of Haripur-Haripur Hazara, Frontier Women University-Peshawar and Karakorum International University-Gilgit Baltistan.

Vice Chancellors of the participating Universities, selected students of the previous programme and others dignitaries were present on the occasion.
