French restaurant sealed for involvement in illegal activities

ISLAMABAD: Federal capital police and District Administration (Disttt Admin) while conducting a joint raid has sealed the ‘La-Maison Restaurant’ on arranging gambling activities and selling the alcohol illegally.

Details said, the restaurant is located in the posh area of sector F-7 where administration had imposed restriction on the entry of local nationals and only foreign or dual nationality holders were allowed to enter in the restaurant.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mohammad Ali and a police officer tried to enter in the restaurant by posing as foreign nationals. When guard of the restaurant asked about their passport both officials call police team for action and entered in the restaurant.

This restaurant is owned by a French national naming Philip Laforg who was not present at the time of raid. As per AC Islamabad restaurant administration was running a casino and promoting the gambling illegally.

Police also recovered 365 bottles of alcohol and a huge cache of fireworks in the raid. Police officials said the raid has been conducted on restricting Pakistani nationals from entering which is an unconstitutional act.

Owner of the restaurant has said that this hotel was opened to provide only French food which is not normally liked by locals that is why restriction on their entrance was imposed.
