Germany to announce 200 scholarships for Pak university students

Islamabad: The German Government through its Embassy in Islamabad to announce 200 scholarships for the Pakistani university students at graduate and under graduate level through HEC-German Needs Based Scholarship Program.

The program will be executed in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan and will be opened for the students of 10 Pakistani universities in selected disciplines of Social Sciences, Basic Sciences, Engineering and Information Technology.

The scholarships are meant for the studious but unprivileged students who, despite possessing academic merit, are unable to continue their studies because of financial constraints.

His Excellency Dr. Cyrill Nunn, German Ambassador to Pakistan invited Engr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, Chairperson, Higher Education Commission Pakistan to have an official opening ceremony of the program on Wednesday (today) to the Embassy.

The scholarship will cover the semester tuition fee along with other expenditures like transportation, books, lodging and incidentals in the form of monthly stipend for the time period of two years.

The participating universities are: Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, COMSATS Institute, Islamabad, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Government College University, Lahore, University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Kohat, University of Haripur, Haripur, Frontier Women University, Peshawar, Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Lasbela Baluchistan, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, Quetta.

This grant will work a long way to strengthen the close bilateral ties between the people of Pakistan and Germany.
