GHQ excuses from static deployment of army., Rangers in all polling stations in Sindh

Karachi: GHQ has excused from static deployment of army and Rangers in all polling stations in Karachi, Hyderabad and Thattha.

A letter from interior ministry has been received by secretary Election Commission (EC) Umar Hamid.

With regard to static deployment of army and Rangers outside all polling stations interior ministry has said the matter of deployment of army and Rangers was taken up with the GHQ and GHQ has said static deployment in such large number is next to impossible.

GHQ has said static deployment at first level is responsibility of provincial government.

Interior ministry said GHQ has already informed static deployment is not possible in such large number of highly sensitive polling stations and it was not practicable to provide security protection for election personnel and equipment.

According to the GHQ, the Election Commission should designate 500 important polling stations so that Rangers could be stationed outside those locations.
