Govt extends offer to send special plane to bring Pervez Musharraf ailing mother to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf has decided finally not to leave the country and demanded of the government to provide air ambulance facilities to bring her ailing mother from Dubai to Pakistan.

Government has held out assurance to extend all facilities in connection with treatment of Pervez Musharraf mother and she is likely to be air shifted to Islamabad within 24 hours.

Information minister Senator Pervez Rashid has said Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has assured for providing all facilities for the treatment of Pervez Musharraf mother.

Talking to media men here Friday information minister said all the arrangements have been finalized to send air ambulance to bring Pervez Musharraf ailing mother from Dubai to Islamabad on humanitarian grounds.

PM is prepared to send special plane or air ambulance to bring Pervez Musharraf mother. The motive behind this offer is that medical treatment could be provided to her in Pakistan and she could live with her son.

He stated government of Pakistan would provide all treatment facilities to mother of Pervez Musharraf.

He underlined independent judiciary would decide about the fate of former president Pervez Musharraf.

It may be recalled that government had placed Pervez Musharraf name in Exit Control List (ECL) under the directives of Supreme Court (SC).
Former president had filed writ petition in Sindh High Court against placement of his name in ECL taking the plea his mother was ill in Dubai, therefore, he wanted to proceed to Dubai for inquiring about her health and her treatment.

The court had disposed of his petition remarking that federal government had included his name in ECL, therefore, government is only authorized to remove his name from ECL.

Mian Nawaz Sharif was in Saudi Arabia when his father had passed away and Pervez Musharraf was in power in the country. Pervez Musharraf had not allowed Sharif brothers to attend funeral procession of their father.
