Govt seems to have surrendered ministry of finance, SB & FBR to IMF: Bilawal

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that government seems to have surrendered ministry of finance, State Bank, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to International Monetary Funds (IMF).

While addressing in the national assembly on Thursday, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced that the deal with International Monetary Fund won’t be accepted if the deal isn’t approved by the Parliament.

Speaking on the floor of Lower House of the Parliament, he lashed out at the PTI-led government’s economic policies and said that the government was the reason behind increase in petrol, gas and electricity prices.

The PPP chairman went on to say that the masses are drowning in the Tsunami of inflation, saying that the labourers, farmers and pensioners are being economically murdered.

“Common man is suffering due to inflation,” he said and added positive criticism is their interest. “People are dying and they do not even let masses cry,” he said.

Bilawal demanded the government to apprise the Parliament about deal with the IMF, saying that the bailout package won’t be accepted if it is not approved by the Parliament.

The PPP chairman said not because of the 18th amendment but the country is near to bankruptcy due to government’s inability. Sindh is the only province that has collected its tax, he said.

He said: “When there is no direction, the government gets confused and then suddenly the finance minister and State Bank governor are changed.”

“It looks like the government has surrendered the ministry of finance, State Bank and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to the IMF.”

Bilawal Bhutto said that inflation has reached a new high and common man is drowning in the Tsunami of inflation. He called the current government ‘two-faced’.

The PPP chairman, in his address, reiterated his demand that the ministers having links with proscribed organizations should be banned.

Bilawal said that the nation is quite perplexed and wants to know who is ruling the nation in reality. He said that the nation is facing the brunt of the incompetent governments.

He said that the government has no vision and is focusing instead on censorship, intimidating through National Accountability Bureau, and filing cases. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan cannot meet any man before his official appointment.

He said that finance minister was immediately removed without any warning and governor State Bank and chairman FBR were removed, saying that nation is not aware of the facts. Bilawal said that finance minister was unaware of this development, saying that who is making these decisions.

He said that price of petrol was increased, saying that this is the historical failure of Captain (Prime Minister). He said that punishment of failure is being suffered by the masses of the country.
