Govt urges finance exporters to participate in int’l exhibitions

LAHORE: Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMAEA) Vice Chairman Usman Ashraf Sunday said that Pakistan needs to participate in international exhibitions such as “Domotax” to increase the volume of exports through effective marketing of its products.

Due to unfavorable conditions, exporters are not in a position to bear the heavy expenses incurred on participating in international exhibitions, so the government is requested to implement the 80/20 formula for financial support.

He expressed these views while talking to the leaders of the association before leaving for Turkey. Chairman Carpet Training Institute (CTI) Pervez Hanif, senior central leader of the association Abdul Latif Malik, senior members Riaz Ahmed, Saeed Khan, Major (Rtd) Akhtar Nazir, Shahid Hassan and Ijazur Rehman and others were also present on this occasion.

Senior Vice Chairman Usman Ashraf said that according to the proposed decision, it is being planned to hold the largest "Domotax" exhibition in Turkey instead of Germany in 2024. “The purpose of the visit to Turkey is to review the ground realities regarding the conditions and participation in the exhibition and inform the exporters who wish to participate in the exhibition,” he added.

He further said that our effort is to have maximum representation of Pakistan in the "Domotex" exhibition, but for this, it is necessary that the government also provides facilities for the products sent for display in the exhibition, including providing financial support.

Usman Ashraf said that it is clear from the statistics that the exporters of our arch rival get more stalls due to the full financial support from their government. “Therefore, the Pakistani government is requested that if it really wants to increase exports, it should allocate special funds in this regard so that more exporters can represent Pakistan in international exhibitions,” he concluded.
