HEC’s Ms. Batool’s services commendable: Baligh

ISLAMABAD: Minister for State for Education and Trainings Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman congratulated Ms. Zia Batool Director General Quality Assurance Higher Education Commission (HEC) for her nomination for “Global Award for outstanding contributions and leadership in Quality Assurance”.

In his appreciation letter, he remarked “the said award is certainly recognition of your contributions and great work done in the critical field of Quality Assurance as an expert both at national and international level.

The letter mentions that her selection for the Global QA Award by the jury of the World Quality Congress is indeed a pride for the nation and the Higher Education Sector of Pakistan that one of the Pakistani Women is selected for this award to be conferred upon in June 2014, in India. Her efforts and contributions in policy making for reformed higher education sector in Pakistan are commendable during last decade while serving the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as Director General-QA.

It pertinent to mention here that Ms. Zia Batool has been nominated for Global Quality Assurance Award by the Jury and Board Member of the Council of The World Quality Congress. She is the first Pakistani who has been nominated for this international prestigious award.

The World Quality Congress Awards 2014 is scheduled to be held on 27th and 28th June, 2014 in Mumbai, India. She is alumna of University of Agriculture Faisalabad. She has been nominated for the award in recognition of the Quality Assurance practices of Higher Education Commission and efforts to improve the quality of higher education.

She has also been invited to share the QA policies and practices of HEC, Pakistan as keynote speaker at the international QA forum. The summit brings several Global Quality Improvement leaders under one roof. The theme for the summit is “New Perspectives & Approaches to Quality – The Leadership Edge…!”This is another endorsement of the recent success in elections of Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) in which HEC; Pakistan won the required number of votes from the Asia Pacific region countries to become a Board Member. The improved global rankings of Pakistani universities also reflect the similar QA improvements and international visibility.

Zia Batool was appointed in the Higher Education Commission in November 2003. Previously, she has served as the advisor social sectors for the Ministry of Finance. She has earned a post-graduation degree in agriculture economics from University of Agriculture. She has also served at National Agricultural Research Centre.

Earlier, Prof. Dr. Atta ur Rehman founder Chairman HEC, Dr. Javaid R. Laghari former Chairperson HEC, Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan Vice Chancellor Agriculture University Faisalabad , commission members of HEC, Vice chancellors and academicians have also congratulated to Ms. Zia Batool on this great recognition.
